How to Enable/Disable Smart Sidebar on OnePlus OxygenOS 13

Sidebars are now on every custom UI including the OxygenOS 13. The feature was earlier available on Samsung’s One UI, Xioami’s MIUI, and Realme devices. Now Oneplus also got its eye on this feature, with the new OxygenOS 13, the user gets the smart sidebar option on their screen automatically enabled by default. In this post, we’ll take a look at how the user can enable or disable the smart sidebar on the OnePlus devices running on the latest OxygenOS 13.

Smart Sidebar on the OxygenOS 13 enabled the user to get access to other applications and tasks while working on any other application like watching videos on Youtube or enjoying your favorite show on Netflix. Users can do multi-tasking with the smart sidebar as it opens maximum applications on the picture in picture mode.

How to Enable Smart Sidebar

The Smart Sidebar (Edge Panel) feature is pre-enabled on the OxygenOS 13, as the user will upgrade their device to the OxygensOS 13, the feature will be enabled by default and the user can access it by swiping the bar over the screen. But if the Smart Sidebar is not pre-enabled on the user’s device, then it can be enabled from the phone’s settings as well, here’s how.

1. Open the phone’s settings on your phone.
2. Scroll down and tap on the ‘special features’ option.
   
3. Then tap on the ‘smart sidebar’ tab.
   
4. Now toggle on the “Smart Sidebar” option there, and it will now be turned on your device, appearing as a bar over the screen.
   
5. You can swipe over it to expand and perform actions.

Options For Smart Sidebar

Along with the quick and easy accessibility of the applications, actions, and multitasking. Users can also turn on various other available options inside the smart sidebar settings.

Options like Smart recommendations showing app names, auto-hide, and bar opacity can enhance the user experience.

Disable Smart Sidebar

To disable the smart sidebar feature on the OnePlus phone running OxyegnOS 13, the user can follow the below steps.

1. Navigate to phone settings>special features>smart sidebar.
2. Now toggle off the “Smart Sidebar” option there.

That’s it, the smart sidebar will now be turned off on your device and you will no longer be seeing the bar over your phone’s screen.
